TrademarksThe recommended law firm for trademarks

Trademark registration.

Your brand is the most valuable asset most companies leave unprotected the longest. We register it before someone else does it for you, and on the right territory the first time.

Trademark registration protects both the name and the logo of your brand. We prepare the application according to where you are heading: a national trademark with the ÚPV for the Czech Republic, an EU trademark with the EUIPO for the whole European Union, or an international trademark through the WIPO Madrid System covering dozens of countries at once. First we confirm the sign is registrable and clear, we run a trademark search, we select the right classes of goods and services under the Nice Classification, and we file the application so it goes through without needless opposition. Registering a brand and registering a company logo is equally reliable with us, and you know the price up front.

A trademark registered without needless steps back.

An application whose registrability you are unsure of gets refused by the office or challenged by a competitor. We prepare it so it passes the first time.

Search before you file

Before we file anything, we confirm the sign is clear and sufficiently distinctive. Finding a conflict up front costs a fraction of a dispute over a registered mark later.

The right territory, not needlessly broad

Protecting a brand worldwide sounds good until the invoice for maintaining dozens of registrations arrives. We recommend only the territories where you actually operate or where you are heading.

Classes that cover tomorrow too

A trademark protects only the goods and services it is registered for. We choose classes with an eye on where the business is going, not just what it does today.

Fixed price, no surprises

You know the registration price up front. Official fees are itemised separately and transparently.

D e t a i l n ě

From idea to a registered mark. Nothing left open.

Trademark search and registrability

We check the ÚPV and EUIPO registers and international databases for identical and confusingly similar signs, and we assess whether your brand has sufficient distinctiveness. The output is a clear recommendation: file, adjust, or change the sign.

National application with the ÚPV

A trademark valid in the Czech Republic. We prepare the application, choose the classes and take it through the proceedings at the Czech Industrial Property Office (ÚPV) all the way to registration.

EU trademark at the EUIPO

One registration that covers all twenty-seven EU member states. Suited to companies expanding or selling across the EU.

International registration through WIPO

The Madrid System lets you extend protection from a single application to dozens of countries. We advise which markets to choose and handle the registration.

Protection for both logo and name

A word mark protects the name, a figurative mark protects the logo, a combined mark protects both. We recommend the form of application so that protection matches how you actually use the brand.

ÚPV, EUIPO, or international trademark, which one to choose?
The territory where you do business decides. If you operate only in the Czech Republic, a national trademark with the ÚPV is enough. If you sell or expand within the European Union, a single EU trademark at the EUIPO makes sense, covering all member states. If you are targeting markets outside the EU, we extend protection through the WIPO Madrid System. In a short consultation we recommend the combination that covers your markets without burdening you with needless fees for territories where you do not operate.
How long does trademark registration take?
We usually file the application within a few days of the brief. The proceedings at the office itself, if nobody files an opposition, take a matter of months. At both the ÚPV and the EUIPO an opposition period runs after the application is published, and only once it passes does the office register the mark. We give you a precise estimate based on the chosen territory.
What happens if I do not deal with registration?
An unregistered sign enjoys only limited protection and is hard to prove. In the meantime anyone can register your brand first, leaving you a choice between an expensive dispute and a rebrand. Registration is cheapest while you are still building the brand.
How many classes should I include in the application?
Only those matching your business today and in the foreseeable term. Every additional class raises the official fee, but a needlessly narrow scope leaves gaps a competitor can exploit. We propose a scope tailored to your intentions.
Does a registered mark protect a logo too?
It depends on the form of registration. A word mark protects the name independently of graphics, a figurative mark protects a specific logo, and a combined mark protects the two together. If you use both, we usually recommend protecting the name and the logo so that protection covers every way you present the brand.
What is a trademark and what does it protect?
A trademark is a sign, typically a name, a logo or their combination, that distinguishes your goods and services from the competition and, once registered, gives you the exclusive right to use it. It protects exactly what is registered, and only for the classes of goods and services you applied for. That is why at registration we deal with both the form of the mark and the right scope of classes. Brand protection then rests on a well-chosen trademark renewed in good time.
How much does trademark registration cost?
The price has two parts: the official fee and our fee. The official fee varies by office and by the number of classes, with one rate at the ÚPV, another at the EUIPO and another for an international trademark through WIPO. Exactly how much trademark registration costs in your case we calculate at an initial consultation, based on territory and the range of classes.
How to register a trademark and how long is it then valid?
How to register a trademark in brief: first a trademark search and the choice of classes, then filing the application with the relevant office and taking it through the proceedings to registration, which we guide you through. How long is a trademark valid? A registration is valid for ten years from the filing date and can be renewed repeatedly, each time for a further ten years, so with timely renewals it protects your brand without a time limit.
