Ambit Becomes a Member of the Czech Startup Association

The Ambit law firm (formerly Mavericks) has officially joined the Czech Startup Association, maintaining its commitment to the development of the Czech startup ecosystem. The Association represents the interests of the Czech startup ecosystem in dialogue with the government, Parliament, and the political sphere. It already has more than 100 members, including major Czech VC funds, startups, innovation centres, and law firms.

Concrete Results That Change Practice

The Chamber of Deputies has approved a new employee stock ownership plan (ESOP) regime, effective January 1, 2026. The Czech Startup Association worked intensively on this legislative change. The new regulation introduces the “no tax before cash” principle—taxation occurs only upon the sale of shares, and employee shares are exempt from social security and health insurance contributions.

Systematic Work on Key Areas

Under the leadership of Martin Jiránek, the Association is systematically working on: creating a rewarding investment environment, including incentives for investors and pension funds; simplifying the process of launching innovative companies and reducing bureaucratic burdens; and strengthening media and public communication on key topics.

Upcoming Startup Act

The Association is currently involved in preparing the groundwork for the startup law, the drafting of which is coordinated by the Office of the Government of the Czech Republic. Part of this preparation involved a survey of Czech startups and investors, which identified the biggest systemic barriers to their growth and development.

Our Role in the Ecosystem

Tomáš Ditrych was elected to the 11-member Council of the Czech Startup Association, where he represents the ecosystem alongside other prominent figures in the Czech startup scene. The Association is also a member of the Confederation of Industry and Transport of the Czech Republic, the European startup coalition S9+, and the global organization Allied for Startups.

Ambit's entry into the Czech Startup Association is a natural step in our long-term effort to provide Czech startups with the best legal support and to actively contribute to creating an environment where innovative companies can thrive.
