PitchBook League Tables Q1 2023: first in the Czech Republic and third in CEE

In the first quarter of 2023, we ranked first among law firms in the Czech Republic and third in Central and Eastern Europe. The positions relate to VC transactions and are based on their number as recorded in the PitchBook League Tables.

In the first quarter of 2023, we ranked first among law firms in the Czech Republic and third in Central and Eastern Europe (CEE) by the number of completed VC transactions. Since 2017, the firm has focused on the startup and venture capital market. We see the result above all as a reflection of our clients’ work and the contribution of the whole team.

What the table measures

PitchBook is a data and software company serving the private capital markets. Founded in 2007, it has been part of the Morningstar group since 2016 and operates as a separate subsidiary. Its Global League Tables rank investors and advisers, including law firms, by the number of completed transactions in a particular category and region. This result concerns VC transactions in the Czech Republic and CEE.

The measure is the number of transactions, rather than their value or a subjective assessment of the work of individual advisers. Counting completed deals therefore offers a concrete and comparable measure of activity in a given segment. It does not, on its own, describe the scope or complexity of the legal work, but it shows how many transactions PitchBook records for a category and period.

The tables are published quarterly for Q1, Q2 and Q3, as well as in an annual summary. The data comes from PitchBook Platform, public sources and information submitted by firms and verified by PitchBook. Alongside broader geographic groupings, there is also a CEE table. Further information is available on PitchBook’s official awards page.

A result within a sustained practice

First place in the Czech Republic and third in CEE reflect activity during a specific quarter. Maintaining activity means working across different stages of financing, from early investments to later company growth. Our work includes pre-seed and seed financing, as well as Series A and growth rounds.

We thank our clients for their trust and the Mavericks team (now Ambit) for its focused work on each transaction. These positions belong first and foremost to them.
