Ambit represented Czech fintech 4Trans in negotiating a venture capital equity investment and debt financing totaling EUR 18 million.
4Trans helped small and medium-sized businesses in transport and logistics bridge the gap created by long invoice payment terms. The funding round, announced on June 29, 2022, combined equity investment with debt financing. The company planned to use the proceeds to expand internationally, grow its team, develop software, and broaden its range of financial and insurance services.
Invoice financing for transport companies
Founded in 2018, 4Trans was led by Jaroslav Ton at the time of the announcement. It focused on small and medium-sized businesses in transport and logistics, helping them bridge long invoice payment terms. Alongside invoice financing, it also offered customer verification.
The company used artificial intelligence, data analysis, and automation to assess risk. According to the transaction announcement at the time, its digital process enabled customers to receive payment for invoices within five minutes.
Equity for growth and debt financing
Of the EUR 18 million total, EUR 3 million came from equity investment and EUR 15 million from debt financing. Equity investors included the funds Atmos Ventures and Tera Ventures, as well as the Czech fund Lighthouse Ventures. Private angel investors also participated in the round. Advance Global Capital provided the debt financing through a revolving credit facility.
The company planned to use the proceeds to expand internationally, grow its team, and develop software. Its plans also included adding further financial and insurance services. Poland, where it already had several clients, was among its intended international markets.
Subsequent developments under the Malcom Finance brand
In 2024, 4Trans changed its name to Malcom Finance. The change was accompanied by an expanded range of financial services, including invoice insurance, loans, and customer verification. Factoring remained the company's main product.
