Ambit represented Czech startup Dronetag in a CZK 15 million venture capital investment from Y Soft Ventures.
The investment, announced on June 27, 2022, was intended to support Czech startup Dronetag's further development, manufacturing, and expansion into new markets. Alongside CZK 15 million in funding, the collaboration with Brno-based fund Y Soft Ventures included access to Y Soft's manufacturing capacity in Brno and optimization of the production process. This gave Dronetag the resources to transition to series production.
From student project to drone devices
Dronetag began as a student project connected to FIT ČVUT. Lukáš Brchl helped launch the project, leading a student team at the Space Application Hackathon. After winning the Navigation category, Brchl and the students founded a company developing small, standalone IoT devices for drones.
The solution also includes a web platform and mobile app that allow users to monitor nearby drone traffic.
Capital and support for series production
Y Soft Ventures is the investment platform of Y Soft Corporation. According to CzechCrunch, the transaction took the form of a convertible loan.
The collaboration included access to Y Soft's manufacturing capacity in Brno, optimization of the production process, and support for entering new markets. In addition to funding, Dronetag thus gained the resources to transition to series production.
How the collaboration developed
In November 2023, Finmag reported on process changes that Dronetag had undergone through its collaboration with Y Soft. These covered internal operations, manufacturing, and the design of new products. Lukáš Brchl also said at the time that the collaboration had accelerated development and praised the sharing of experience with the logistics of large shipments to the U.S. and other markets.
