Ambit represented SupplyDo in securing a venture capital investment of approximately CZK 9.5 million from the Nation 1 fund.
Zlín-based startup SupplyDo sought capital to accelerate its growth and secured its first external investor in Nation 1. The venture capital investment, announced in April 2023, totaled EUR 400,000 (approximately CZK 9.5 million, according to a CzechCrunch report) and was split into two tranches. The funds were intended to support the development of the company’s own app, marketing and the financing of additional projects.
From packaging design to distribution
David Klímek launched SupplyDo in January 2022. He had gained experience in shipping while living in Canada. After returning to the Czech Republic, he worked in the industry, handling shipments and packaging. He started his own business after he and his employer disagreed on how to develop the services further. Two larger clients chose to continue working with him.
The company brings together services for which merchants typically need several suppliers. It arranges the production of packaging and printed materials, product assembly, warehousing and distribution. It uses a network of suppliers to fulfill orders, tailoring its solutions to each product and the customer’s needs. Its services cover both preparing goods and getting them to the recipient.
At the time the investment was announced, SupplyDo’s clients included Notino, Yamaha and Snuggs. The company shipped to 28 countries.
Funding for the app, marketing and projects
SupplyDo entered discussions with investors as a profitable business. According to its statements at the time, it generated revenue of nearly CZK 11 million in 2022. When the investment was announced, Klímek explained that he had sought capital to accelerate growth and had also considered the support an investor could provide beyond the funding itself.
Part of the investment was earmarked for developing the company’s own app and expanding its marketing efforts. According to Klímek, the company intended to use approximately two-thirds of the funds for additional projects and their ongoing financing. The app for online stores was intended to give customers a clearer overview of the services SupplyDo provided for them.
Marek Moravec, then managing partner of Nation 1, emphasized the breadth of SupplyDo’s services when the investment was announced. He said the fund had been drawn to a service covering the process from product manufacturing through distribution.
The company’s staffing plans at the time also reflected its growth ambitions. SupplyDo intended to expand its team of two during the year and finish 2023 with five people. This was a plan disclosed when the investment was announced.
Later figures for 2024
For 2024, SupplyDo reports on its website that it completed 756 projects, printed 5,038,624 boxes and operated in 32 countries. These are operating figures published by the company itself. Its website continues to describe services ranging from packaging design and printing through product assembly to distribution.
